Batarians are a Race in Mass Effect 3. Batarians are four-eyed anthropoid species that originated from the planet Khar'shan. They are one of only two know races that have developed more than one pair of eyes, Yahg being the other.. Races in Mass Effect 3 have their own agendas, culture, religion, ways to govern etc. Since Commander Shepard is inevitably Human, the approach of the other Races towards Humanity is most of the time visible for the player. Many of the perceptions some Races used to have may have changed thanks to the efforts of Commander Shepard in the prequels.
Batarians Information
The Batarian race was once considered as part of the Citadel Space and they had their own embassy that was mostly accepted by the galactic community. During the period of time where humans started to colonize the Skillian Verge where the Batarians settled, they were forced to close their embassy and withdrew from the Citadel space since the Council refused to intervene when the Batarians asked.
Batarians exhibit different skin tone colors. Most are dark, brown-red hues, but some, such as Balak, have black and yellow pigmentation. They are known for slavery, leading pirate gangs, being tough businessmen, and merchants throughout the galaxy.
