M-5 Phalanx is a Heavy Pistol in Mass Effect 3. Heavy Pistols are one of the six types of Weapons available in Mass Effect 3 and despite their size, they are massive damage dealing Weapons. Weapons in Mass Effect 3 are used to inflict damage to both Enemies or Bosses alongside Powers. Unlike the previous game, Classes do not limit the type of weaponry at your disposal.
M-5 Phalanx Information
The M-5 Phalanx is the product of the Alliance's Offensive Handgun Project, a close-in weapon to be used with no loss of stopping power in comparison with a soldier's assault rifle. The Phalanx enjoys a ballistics advantage over most heavy pistols. Civilian variants are often purchased by colonists on planets that have particularly dangerous big-game animals.

M-5 Phalanx Location
Single-player: The M-5 Phalanx is found at the top of a long set of stairs right before you head into the Maw Hammers, during the mission "Priority: Tuchanka". It is also purchasable from Kassa Fabrication post-mission if it was missed.
Multi-player: Weapons are randomly rewarded through purchases of item packs. The M-5 Phalanx is categorized as uncommon.
M-5 Phalanx Available Upgrades
Heavy Pistols can have two active upgrades at the same time. In order to apply these upgrades, you have to do it at a weapon bench:
