Tuchanka: Turian Platoon Full Walkthrough

Getting Started

This mission is automatically acquired upon the conclusion of Priority: Sur'Kesh.

Before you can begin Priority: Tuchanka, you are required to complete either this mission or Attican Traverse: Krogan Team.

You can speak to Primarch Victus in the War Room aboard the Normandy to try and glean some information regarding the mission. The Primarch remains tight-lipped, revealing only that one of his Turian ships on a secret mission had crashed on Tuchanka and its platoon pinned by Reaper forces scouting the planet. He emphasizes that they need to be rescued and allowed to complete their original mission as a matter of galactic peace. If you pry, he will reluctantly reveal that the platoon's commanding officer is his son, Tarquin Victus. The rest, as he says, is "highly classified".

Note that if you do not complete this mission as the prerequisite for Priority: Tuchanka, it can still be undertaken up until the completion of Priority: Thessia, after which it  automatically expires and is considered failed.

When ready, chart a course for Tuchanka in the Aralakh System. Pick the Downed Vessel NavPoint. It is advisable to bring armor-stripping abilities or any abilities that bypass armor for this mission.

Walkthrough

The mission opens to a cutscene with Shepard attempting to contact Lieutenant Tarquin Victus who is under heavy attack from Reaper forces. The lieutenant fires a flare to help orient the rescue squad. Once you gain control, head forward a few steps and look to the left amongst the rubble for an SMG Magazine Upgrade. Head up the ladder and get rid of the three stationary Husks. Just before the next ladder, salvage the Spare Parts in the pile of rubble for 3,125 Credits and then climb up another level. Hop over the hole in the ground and pick up the M-9 Tempest SMG on the ground just ahead. Follow the path forward and a short cutscene plays showing Cannibals and an escape pod in the distance. Take out the first couple of Cannibals and another group should spawn. After eliminating them all, a Harvester will land in front of the escape pod, attempting to destroy it. Attack the Harvester and it should flee after getting its armor down to about halfway.

Look for a ladder on the right and climb up. Pick up the Sniper Rifle Spare Ammo upgrade and then press onward down the narrow path all the way to the end and salvage the Spare Parts worth 6,250 Credits, then back up a few steps and take the path leading right into the building. You can pick up the Phaeston Assault Rifle from the ground here and the SMG Ultralight Materials Upgrade at the end of the room on the left. Head down the path adjacent to where the rifle was and take the ladder down one level. There is a Med Kit behind the fallen pillar just ahead. Take the path on the right side to get around all the rubble. You will come across a Marauder and some Cannibals attacking the second escape pod just ahead. Take them out and another Harvester will swoop in, dropping off several Husks to attack you. Make quick work of them and then drive off the Harvester again. As with the first pod, you won't be able to reach the Turians and they'll head off to rendezvous at the ship's crash site.

Take the path down from the right and Lieutenant Victus will radio in for an update. Pick up the Hahne-Kedar Chestplate in the container along the path and then continue on downwards. There is a Flight Recorder amongst the rubble in the next section containing a comms log from just before the crash. To the left is a Shotgun Smart Choke Upgrade. In the next area, a Harvester flies by and drops off a couple of Husks. Kill them and salvage the Junk from the Turian corpses on the ground for 3,125 Credits. Drop down the leader in front of you for the final stretch of the mission.

To the left of the ladder is a path leading to the Harvester and a few Cannibals. You will be able to destroy the Harvester this time. Continue along the fairly linear path from here and look out for some flames along the right wall, there will be a Med Kit on the ground in front of it. From there, drop down the ledge at the end of the path and pick up the Sniper Rifle Extended Barrel Upgrade. Continue dropping down to get to the final battle which includes a Brute and many Cannibals and Marauders. Maintain your distance from the Brute and prioritize it, taking care not to get overwhelmed by grenades from the rest of the Reaper forces. After several waves of enemies, another Harvester will drop down. Destroying this Harvester will end the encounter. Note that there is a Reaper Blackstar at the right side near the front of the area which can be invaluable in taking out either the Harvester or the Brute.

After the battle, speak with Lieutenant Victus to learn of what happened. Their platoon was sent to Tuchanka to defuse a Cerberus bomb and Shepard inspires the lieutenant to convince his men to carry on with their mission. He asks for your help and sends you the NavPoint for the Side Mission Tuchanka: Bomb. Note that this mission is timed and will fail if not completed within three missions after acquisition. After the conversation with Tarquin, you are brought back to the Normandy to report to Admiral Hackett, followed by a short confrontation with Primarch Victus regarding the bomb as the mission comes to a close.
