Maya Brooks is a former Cerberus operative who left the organization to pursue her own agenda. No one knows her true name, other than being named as "Maya Brooks" as her alias, apart from that she was ultimately called "Captain Channing", "Hope Lilium", and "Rasa" while working with Cerberus. Maya made her first appearance in the comic book series, Mass Effect: Foundation, and then in Mass Effefct 3's DLC, the Citadel - Maya is best known for her expertise in infilitration and espionage.

Commander Shepard meets Brooks in Ryuusei's sushi bar on the Citadel, where she presents herself as a twitchy and talkative Staff Analyst in Systems Alliance intelligence. Brooks warns the Commander about an unknown party targeting and hacking into the Commander's personal accounts and records.
